Dreamweaver, a popular web development tool, is no longer actively maintained by Adobe. The last major update to Dreamweaver occurred in 2019, and since then, Adobe has shifted its focus away from this software in favour of other creative tools. As a result, older versions of Dreamweaver are no longer able to connect to our servers.

Why Can't Dreamweaver Connect?

Older versions of Dreamweaver do not support the latest Encryption Methods and Cryptographic Algorithms (MACs) required by our servers (and most servers in general) for secure connections. This includes algorithms such as SHA-2, which are now standard for secure communication. Since Dreamweaver has not been updated to support these modern cryptographic standards, its compatibility with current server security protocols is limited.

Recommended Alternatives

Since Dreamweaver is no longer an optimal solution for managing FTP/SFTP connections, we recommend using modern, actively maintained FTP/SFTP clients that support the latest encryption protocols. These alternatives offer a more secure and reliable experience when connecting to our servers.

Recommended FTP Clients:

  • FileZilla: A popular, free, open-source FTP client that supports modern encryption standards.
  • Cyberduck: A free FTP client with support for SFTP and strong encryption methods.
  • WinSCP: Another free and open-source FTP client that supports secure connections via SFTP.
