From 13th June 2025, PayPal Billing Agreements replaced PayPal subscriptions. It is no longer possible to create new PayPal subscriptions, and the information in this article applies only to subscriptions created before this date. For more information, please read: We recommend PayPal users set up a new Billing Agreement.
If you previously created a PayPal Subscription to pay for your services with Maxer, you should now create a new Billing Agreement to replace it.
PayPal Subscriptions have been discontinued, and all existing subscriptions will be cancelled by mid-2026. The previous system had several limitations:
- When you cancel a service or domain, the PayPal subscription is not automatically cancelled or updated.
- PayPal controls the billing date, which cannot be changed. If the subscription was created late, it will continue to renew late each year.
- A single subscription may cover multiple services or domains, which can change in price over time, making it difficult to manage accurately.
As the account holder, you are responsible for managing your PayPal subscription. Maxer does not monitor or control subscriptions and is not responsible for any errors.
In many cases, an alternative payment method such as a credit/debit card or Direct Debit is more suitable, as it ensures payments are processed correctly and on time.
Cancellation
If you cancel your service or change your payment method from PayPal to another option, you must cancel the PayPal subscription directly within your PayPal account. Maxer is not responsible for this.
You should regularly review your PayPal subscriptions to ensure everything is correct. If a subscription is not cancelled and PayPal sends us a payment, this may result in either a service renewal or an account credit. Refunds are not guaranteed and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Duplicate Payments
Maxer does not directly debit your PayPal account. All PayPal subscriptions are created by you, either as a one-off payment or a recurring subscription.
If you notice a duplicate payment, this usually means that a second PayPal subscription has been created. Maxer has not charged you twice.
When duplicate payments are received, the additional amount is applied as account credit. You should cancel all existing PayPal subscriptions to prevent further charges. Future invoices will be deducted from your account credit. Once used, you can set up a Billing Agreement or switch to another payment method such as card or Direct Debit.
Refunds are not guaranteed. PayPal applies fees even when refunds are issued, and each case must be reviewed individually.
By using PayPal subscriptions, the client acknowledges that Maxer is not liable for any fees incurred as a result of PayPal payments. This includes, but is not limited to, bank fees, card fees, over-limit fees, or any other charges associated with the PayPal account. Maxer is not responsible for any agreement between PayPal and the customer.
